Green Cube. Laguna Beach, California.

Green Cube is a store for those looking for chic ways to be sustainable. This place in in the heart of Downtown Laguna Beach and has everything from furniture to clothing to wall decor. The store feels rustic and very artistic. I liked the way everything was carefully selected and they store is not clutter with product. Everything in the store is an art piece and I’m sure there is a perfect home for each one.

Partners And Spade. New York, NY

final

Partners and Spade is a studio that gathers a collection of the similar vintage products and then sells them. The space is set up to display all the sets and you can buy one of the pieces or get the whole collection. The  cool thing about it is that if you choose to buy just one piece, you know that other people will have part of the whole set as well. It’s like just buying one piece of a puzzle. They are only open on the weekends or you can call ahead to make an appointment during the week. Visit their website here.

Funky Furniture

These are really unique pieces of furniture presented at a Interior Design Trade Show. These ones are really a sculpture more that just furniture. I can’t imagine myself using them but I can definitely imagine them in my house just sitting pretty.

Obssesions Make My Life Worse and My Work Better

My Obssesions Make My Life Worse and My Work Better

I have been traveling in the search for new products, artists and inspiration, I wasn’t able to post anything while I was gone but now that I am back I can tell you all about my trip. I was in New York City which was fantastic and very productive. This week I will be taking you throughout my four days in the city. I am looking forward to sharing with you my finds.

First, I stopped by the 365: AIGA Annual Design Exhibition, the installation on the picture above is from Sagmeinster, Inc. The piece was made using 250,00 Euro cents and it took place in Amsterdam on September 13th 2008.  This installation took 8 days and 100 volunteers. The coins had to be sorted by shades to add dimension to the piece which spelled out “Obsessions make my life worse and my work better.”

After the project was finished, it was left freed and unguarded.  After 20 hours a resident noticed a person bagging the coins and called the police to stop the criminal. The police decided it was best to “preserve the artwork” and swept up the rest of the coins and took them away.

This is a fantastic piece of work,  you can see the video of this piece being made here.  If you liked this type of work you can visit “Things I have learned in my life so far”, this is a website that showcases interactive installations.

Stay tuned for more.
